High school juniors in the Kuna community have an opportunity to compete for a sponsored position representing Johnson-Neilson American Legion Post 142 at American Legion Boys State.

American Legion Gem Boys State is a hands-on educational program designed to teach high school students about government, citizenship, leadership, and civic responsibility.
Since 1935, Boys State has provided young men with the opportunity to experience government in action. Participants create and operate their own local, county, and state governments, with students elected to various offices and responsible for carrying out the duties of those positions.
Through this experience, participants gain a practical understanding of the rights and privileges of citizenship, as well as the duties and responsibilities that come with being an active member of their community.
Activities may include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, music programs, and recreational activities.
Boys State gives students an opportunity to step into leadership roles, work with others, make decisions, and gain a greater understanding of how government works.
High school juniors are selected by local American Legion Posts to attend Boys State. Johnson-Neilson American Legion Post 142 is proud to support students from our community by sponsoring their participation in this valuable program.
If you are a high school junior interested in representing Kuna at Boys State, contact the Kuna High School Career Counseling Center for information about eligibility and the application process.
